The Project
The Valencia College Graphic Design Program is an academic institution specializing in graphic design education. Their main goals are to provide high-quality education to their students, ensure student retention and success, and expand their influence in the community through workshops and events.
Our users consist of students and professors in the Graphic Design Program at Valencia College. They seek an easy-to-use tool for communication, resource access, and collaboration, that addresses the unique needs of students and professors within the program.
My Participation
For this project I worked with another designer, Thea Hines. The project centers around creating a user-friendly platform that enhances student engagement outside the classroom through a new communication platform.
The proposed solution is a mobile app with four key features: Calendar, Connect & Chat, Project Showcase, and Design Learning Resources.
My participation on the project focused mostly on the UI/UX design, the interactivity of the platform as well as the brand style. All of our designs were based on the research that was done on our demographic.
Brand Outlines
Valencia College’s brand uses red, yellow and white, so we decided to use those as a base for our product.
The design required to be modern but maintain a professional aesthetic that could work well with both students and professors. The typography reflects that by using a serif-based headline and a sans-serif body copy.
